Summer reading – Week 3

We are halfway through the Summer Reading Program! I can’t believe how fast it is going.

This past week, I didn’t read as much as last week due to the fact that I had oral surgery on Tuesday. Though I was home the entire day, I didn’t read at all. Rather I slept most of the day.

I have also been severely distracted the past few days. Maybe, it’s because Back to School sales are going on, but upon going to Barnes and Noble yesterday, to prepare for a future post, I ended up getting sidetracked by all the new and colorful planners. That led me on a quest to find planner stickers and then to the vaccuum of YouTube to watch planner organization videos (yes, I’m a dork…but you already knew this).

Then today, I sat down with the plan to write this post and got distracted in reading everyone else’s posts, and then searching for other book bloggers to follow. Then I found the Classic’s Club which intrigued me enough to join. Thus my previous post.

With that being said, I did manage to meet my goals of 2 books and exceed my article goal with 19 articles. I also completed a review but did not get a bingo line.

I managed to make it to the library this week to get my raffle tickets. I only received two for meeting and exceeding my goal, so I decided to change it up this week. I put in for the gift certificates to restaurants and tried for the Kindle. While I am not an e-book reader, I figured why not. Maybe if I get lucky, I will change my ways.

I’m hoping that I got all these distractions out of my system so I can finish “Nostromo” by the time my book club meets on Wednesday. Sadly, I have feeling is going to be a DNF. We shall see.

What books are you reading this summer? Let’s discuss!

  1. I was curious by the mention of raffle tickets so just read the previous blogs about the program. Wish our library did something similar. Looking at your first week I had to laugh about the reaction at the library when you told them how easy the reading articles task would be. I was a newspaper journalist for nine years so yes that would have been an easy one for me too:)

    • Thanks for reading! I feel like I’m cheating a little but if they allow it, I guess I shouldn’t worry about it. Also I only put the lengthier articles that I read on the list to make it more fair. 🙂
