Library Book Sale #3

Hey guys,

I made it to my third and final book sale of the season and once again scored with a lot of good books. The books were 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardcovers. I bought 14 books for $7.50.

Classics

So there wasn’t a huge classics section but if anything has taught me, you can find some classics in the regular fiction section and I was right. Among those that I scored was “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith, and “The Good Earth” by Pearl S. Buck, all of which have been on my TBR.  “A River Runs Through It” by Norman Maclean just kept jumping out at me for some reason. This has happened before and was always a success so I figured why not. If I don’t like it, I can always unhaul it later.

Nonfiction/History

I normally don’t visit this section very often but upon perusing the tables quickly, I found some good ones including “Stiff” by Mary Roach, which I only picked up because my book club had read this a few years ago and I wanted to see what it was about; “The Devil in the White City” by Erik Larson. I read his other book “In the Garden of Beasts” and loved it. See my review. I also picked up “Reading Lolita in Tehran” which had an interesting summary; and finally “The Night Trilogy” by Elie Wiesel, which speaks for itself. I think everyone has heard of this one, though I didn’t know it was a trilogy.

Others

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows” by J.K. Rowling – I am slowly but surely getting my Harry Potter collection. Have 1,2,4 and now 7, all bought at library book sales for a total so far of $2.50. That is a steal considering the whole set is at least $40 in stores.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safran Foer – I have read this one but it is a book club read over the summer so I figured I might as well own it.

Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister” by Gregory Maguire – Starting to amass my Maguire collection. Have “Wicked” and “Son of a Witch” so far.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs – This has been on my TBR forever.

Gone Girl” and “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn – I am loving Flynn’s books and want them on my shelf. I have read “Gone Girl” and “Dark Places” and loved them. “Sharp Objects” is always on loan at the library when I want it so I saw it for sale and picked it up.

So I have accumulated a lot more books this haul as well as this whole spring. Between all three book sales I have amassed 43 books on my shelves. The problem is that with so many new, good books on my shelves, I don’t want to do my required reading for book clubs. LOL. I think some adjusting is in order.

Yours truly,

Book Admirer
